High Performance Buildings
When it comes to building “green,” Sika Sarnafil is on top – literally! Our Energy Star-rated reflective roofing membrane, as well as our waterproofing systems for vegetative roofs, permit building owners to create high performance buildings that are recognized under the Canadian and U.S. Green Building Council's LEED™ certification program.

Long before final certification happens, Sika Sarnafil’s technical representatives are lending valuable advice and experience to designers, architects, specifiers and other LEED accredited professionals, helping them choose the right system for their needs. Our reflective roof membranes and green roofs, meet the design criteria for one point under SS Credit 7.2: Heat Island Effect: Roof.
Requirements
Option 1 Use roofing materials having a Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) equal to or greater than the values in the table below for a minimum of 75% of the roof surface. OR
Option 2 Install a vegetated roof for at least 50% of the roof area. OR
Option 3 Install high albedo and vegetated roof surfaces that, in combination, meet the following criteria: (Area of SRI Roof/0.75) + (Area of vegetated roof/0.5) >= Total Roof Area
